Let's be reasonable with one another, shall we?

Another Reasonable Blogger!

Bobby Grow is so delightful to read. He really has a lot of interesting things to say. He is very smart. Sometimes he really talks way over my head, but whenever I can understand what he is saying, I find his contributions very helpful, and I mean VERY HELPFUL.

If you want to see an example of his patient reasonableness, just take a look at this comment thread:
Bluecollar Blog on discipleship. I really respect the way he handled that discussion. Some of us would have been put-off by it and we may have even gotten a little huffy.

In general, when I read his comments, his tone just comes off as very matter-of-fact, confident, but open to the truth. He also sounds like a lot of fun to talk to. He doesn't seem to "take sides" as some of us do, but is willing to change his mind if his study of the Bible is causing such a change. I really respect that.

I don't think he is an antinomian. :~) I think Bobby is very REASONABLE!

  • Rose,

you're too nice! I really appreciate the kind encouraging words. I try to "blog in the Spirit"; but as all have seen, I'm sure, I'm not always in step with HIM--but that is my goal. Again thank you Rose, this is really nice, you definitely have one of the most edifying and reasonable blogs around :)!

    Sincerely in Christ,

    Bobby Grow

  • The weather is finally pleasant, Matthew. I am glad you agree about Bobby.

    Bobby,
I have always appreciated you in the world of blog. :~)
I added the graphic after I posted this post. If you would want it for your sidebar, email me and I will send you the html if you don't know how to do that yourself. Then again, it might clutter your sidebar. Thank you for saying that about my blog.

    Hi Mark :~)

  • Rose,

I would be honored to place your award in my sidebar, but I can't find your email.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 5/25/2007 4:19 PM

  • Hi Bobby,
I don't know why my email wasn't listed in my profile anymore - weird. I don't remember changing that. Maybe I did when that homesexual was emailing me all the time trying to get me to say that same sex romantic love was not condemned in the Bible. Oh, oh, did I just say that?

    Anyways, here's my email: rcole@ambt.net

    :~)

  • I definitely believe Bobby is reasonable! Thanks Rose. Just today over at the online chat section of the GES web site I was giving bro. Bobby high marks for his kind & Biblical remarks to a person over at another blog in response to an online video. Great remarks bro. Bobby! Thank you Rose for posting this.

  • Howdy Rose, IT'S SHAWN!!!

Rose if you gave me an award I would say

"We are unworthy servants; we have only done what was our duty.’” (Luke 17:10).

Oh sorry had to bring that up. It's a sermon series that John MacArthur is doing on video I have been quite enjoying (Computer -> IPOD -> TV). He's quite a good at verse by verse preaching, though some people don't like to hear him preach. I don't think about the disagreements on the blog aren as much as just enjoying some good preaching. Wondering if other sermons are online maybe from some other pastors. Do you know of some good pastors you like to listen to that have video.

  • Hi Shawn,
I know this comment was directed towards Rose, but I thought I would put in a plug for Pastor Joe Wood http://www.afterlife.tv/ His sermons are LIVE via internet on Saturday nights. Of course if people are bound and determined to stick to traditionalism then they will simply miss out on truth and blessing that he has to offer. He is doing the last of his 4 part series tonight on "Religion Bytes" . He lays things out very simply. He understands grace very well.

  • Thank you David, Mark, and Matthew!

If there is anything reasonable about me it's that I believe that Jesus is the only way, truth, and life and no man comes to the Father without Him.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 5/26/2007 3:56 PM

  • Amen to that bro. Bobby! Me too!

  • HI Rose, I think this is my first time to look at your blog! Thanks for giving this award to my husband, although, since you don't live him, you might not know that at times he can be very unreasonable! LOLO! HA! HA! Just kidding! Bobby is an awesome husband and man of God whom I admire greatly! God Bless! Angela (bobby's wife)

  • David,
I am glad that you have had a chance to watch Bobby in action. Where is that pasrt of the GES website? Can you give me link? I never saw a place to discuss. That would be interesting.

    Hi Shawn,
Thanks for the many exclamation points in your greeting. :~)
I have links to audio sermons that are great, but not video. Would you be interested in those?

    Angela,
Hello! How nice to have you stop by. All husbands are unreasonable at times, but never wives, right? ;~)
    God bless you, Angela.

    By Blogger Rose~, at 5/28/2007 8:22 AM

  • Sandy,

Thanks for the link, I'll have to check that out more closely as only heard a bit of it. Personally couldn't get into to much because of all of the front stuff seemed more distracting to me, plus I had the volume on low my wife was doing something else and didn't want to distract. I'll have to check it out more to see. I remember when I was in my teens and 20s I loved things like hard Christian rock and loved videos with people with tats and piercings. I'm personally glad I never got a tatoo.

    Rose,

Yes, tell me what you like to listen to. I would like to listen to other pastors who are good at at verse by verse preaching as I have alot of time at work while I'm writing code.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 5/28/2007 9:49 PM

  • Sandy,

Please forgive me that sounded dumb. I'll take the time and listen all of the way through to the end at some point. Got to get back to my wife at this time. Thanks for the link.

    Blessings in Christ,
    Shawn

  • HI Rose, I like you already! Yes, us wives are never unreasonable...
wink, wink, nudge, nudge. I really enjoy reading your blog! After months of resisting the blogosphere, I finally thought, "if ya can't beat 'em, might as well join 'em!" So I start blogging, and I found that I like it! God Bless, angela

By Blogger Angela, at 5/28/2007 11:56 PM

  • Angela, blogging can be really great. It helps you learn to express yourself and to better underastand that which you want to express. It can be really great for working through things and learning. Glad to have you among those that do it! I will check out yours soon.

  • 'Cmon Shawn. We all know you where a nose ring at night:-)

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 5/29/2007 7:09 PM

  • opps! I meant wear:-)

and get a tattoo and dye that hair. Your just jealous that my wife is still in her twenties:-)

I took a cue from Jonathan Edwards and robbed the cradle and man did it ever pay off:-)

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 5/29/2007 7:12 PM

  • Hi Rose, sorry to take up your space here talking to Shawn. I hope it's not a problem.

    Shawn,
I don't know what my husband is talking about. I am 33 years old so I am NOT in my 20's anymore!!! Although he did rob the cradle! :)
Don't worry about what you said, it didn't sound dumb. I didn't mean for my comment to sound sanctimonious either. Pastor Joe has just been a blessing to me.

I can see where the initial part of the program would distract you. He tries to get people's eyes off of outward appearances and more on the heart.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 5/29/2007 7:58 PM

  • Sandy,

Sounds like a good thing to get off outward appearance, will check it out tonight after reading to my kids John and "Pilgrim's Progress". Might be later tonight.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 5/29/2007 8:21 PM

  • Brian,

I think knew what you were talking about with Edwards as we talked about it a bit. I couldn't stop laughing for a few minutes. Thanks for the humor, especially the quote "We all know you wear a nose ring at night :-)".

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 5/29/2007 8:30 PM

  • HI Rose, you'll find that my blog is much less cerebral than Bobby's, but I try to making it interesting! Yes, it is a fun "hobby", and way to vent some creative energy and ideas! God Bless! Angela :-)

By Blogger Angela, at 5/30/2007 12:09 PM

  • Sis I’m sorry to be so late to the party but I have to add my voice of approval to your approval of Mr. Grow (<--because he likes hearing that) though I do think he has some serious competition in the family now. Corry and I both enjoy Angela’s post. ;-)

By Blogger Kc, at 6/02/2007 4:43 AM

  • Angela,
I still need to get over and read your blog! If it is "not as cerebral" then maybe I can understand it more easily!

    KC,
Hi brother! I have not seen you around in a while. I hope you and the family are well. How is little Casey?

    By Blogger Rose~, at 6/02/2007 9:24 AM

  • Rose,

I apologize for being so late in answering your question a few posts back. The "Discussion forum" on the GES site is under "Online Chat." I forget now where I was referring to, though!! I'm even older now than when I began this post! Boy, am I aging fast!!

By Blogger David Wyatt, at 6/02/2007 4:48 PM

  • Rose I'm always here lurking in the shadows. ;-)

Everyone is doing well. Corry does a good job of posting on the family and there are some pics and stories of Casey on her site.
