A Vacation from It ALL!

John and I took the kids for a bit of a vacation this last week. We went to a little cabin/cottage on a lake. It was wonderful. There is nothing like a lake to bring peace to a family. The kids got along swimmingly and John and I got a lot of rest. We also enjoyed boating and jumping in the lake and flapping our arms and legs.

Our cottage was off the main lake, but we had boat access through a channel to the bigger lake, about 70 acres.

The lake was great - not a lot of development, so it was very quiet and peaceful.

Maybe there was a reason for the lack of developent .....

The frogs were abundant in the little lake. My 11 year old named these two frogbert and wartman. ick...

It is always nice to get back to your own bed. I think that is the best part of a vacation - coming home.

  • man looks like you all had a great time and a good rest .. i was just thinking on the end of all this one what you wrote .. "It is always nice to get back to your own bed. I think that is the best part of a vacation - coming home". can someone tell me why we work so hard all year round and we can't wait for our vacation to come which goes by so fast...and with all that we just can't wait to come home anyway from our vacation to be at home... wow this is so true..why though are we like this?? when i was a kid i know i became home sick when i was sent off to camp, does this carry on to our adulthood in some sort of matter in a different way???'' "There is no place like home." Another and last ? on this matter when The Lord calls us to be with Him are we going to be home sick ?? or will we know we are Home Home!!

Rose we'll be on vacation in three weeks ....yes we are headed to a cottage on a lake too... hope we have as much fun as you guys did..

  • Good for you Rose! Glad you vacated & even gladder that you're back! Like ol' Vance Havner once said, commenting on Jesus' words to the disciples in Mark 6: Either you come apart & rest awhile, or you just plain come apart! God Bless!

  • DF, it is very flat around here, as you can see ... and that lake was in the area called the "Irish Hills" - go figure!

    Hi Dawn,
We did. I have so many posts to write, but I have no time to do it. I went for a walk every morning and thought of so many things to say and to explore.

    Hey Chris,
Yea, that is funny, isn't it? I wonder why we are like that? What lake is it you go to? I can't remember - is it your parents' cottage or Stacey's? You lucky.

    Thanks, David,
Like I told Dawn, I have a lot of plans for this blog. Keep checking back and hopefully, there will be some activity. I am still "On vacation" as it were. Going on a day trip today.

  • Rose, glad to hear you had a nice time off.

Did you bring the frogs home? One year we told our son he could take one frog home and we ended up with two frogs and two toads!

  • Hi Rose. Looks like you all had a fun time. My daughter is anxiously awaiting her tadpoles to arrive in the mail so she can have her pet frogs (thanks a lot grandma :)). I am assuming your children's frogs were catch and release.

  • Angela,
Hey, you look familiar! (love that movie)
    Thanks for visiting.

    Mary,
I said right away: "you aren't taking that home." Then, my son talked Daddy into bringing two frogs home if he would let them go on Monday at the creek. He ended up letting them go on Sunday because he felt bad for captivating them. The other son brought home a toad, and he let it go Monday.

  • Mas,
We had one of those grow-a-frogs a few years back. It finally died (Grandma's idea here too).

We realesed here in Ohio at Ten-Mile Creek. Oh well, maybe they will adjust, maybe not.

    PGA,
I want to talk to you some more about that!
