Son of God, Love's Pure Light

It always amazes me when I think of what happened two thousand years ago. God became a man! What an incredible happening! The Son of God: God of very God... became man of very man... and made His appearance here beginning as the smallest and most vulnerable of us: a tiny newborn baby.

He was the most revolutionary person of all time. Love's pure light - this was the most perfect individual... we are talking about the person who holds the entire universe together by His very essence. The Words He spoke were, and still are, sharper than any two edged sword. They are life and light and truth and grace.

He thought of us!
He cared for us.
He made a way for us.
He lit the world!

Praise the Lord.

  • Hi Rose,

It is wonderful to reflect on Jesus and all that He is.

Completely off-topic, I was just skimming some of your older posts and saw that you have a son named Simon. Me too! (Mine is 4, so a bit younger.) Good name. :-) So far, there's only been one other boy with the same name in any of his classes at school or church. Oddly enough this boy's name is spelled Psymon. Yeah, he's gonna love his parents when he's older. We named ours the normal way, like yours - Simon. :-)

  • Amen Rose! The wonderful God-Man! How gracious of our awesome God to become a Man so we can be saved! Also, we can speak to Him anytime & He understands us, where we are, our weaknesses, though He had no sin, yet He cares about us in our struggles. I guess I'll never lose the wonder of it all! At least I pray I won't!! God Bless you for this post!

  • Hey all.
    Thanks for the encouragement.
Rachel, does your son live up to his name? ;~)

What kind of a parent would name their child Simon beginning with a p? That is a real head-scratcher.

    miss ya DF

  • Hi Rose!
I made a search for God’s love in Scripture:

In His love and in His pity He redeemed them-Isa 63:9.

Thou hast in love to my soul delivered it from the pit of corruption: for Thou hast cast all my sins behind Thy back-Isa 38:17.

Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave Himself for it-Eph 5:25.

God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life-Jn 3:16.

I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which i now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave Himself for me-Gal 2:20.

Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God-1 Jn 3:1.

Unto Him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in His own blood-Rev 1:5.

For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord-Ro 8:38,39.

Try a search for the word “compassion”! Impossible to reach the conclusions that Calvinists hold to! May God help us not to misrepresent Him and His wonderful love, inadvertently or otherwise!!!
