Can Someobody Please Tell Me Who This Is?

  • Ron Paul

By Blogger Missy, at 10/19/2009 12:26 PM

  • And I hope him or someone like him becomes president one day...

By Blogger Missy, at 10/19/2009 12:31 PM

  • Thank you Missy, I did not recognize him!

    By Blogger Rose~, at 10/19/2009 2:34 PM

  • You're welcome!

See how nicely we've displayed our manners. :)

By Blogger Missy, at 10/19/2009 3:37 PM

  • haha - yes:
    Thank You
    You're Welcome

    That wasn't very hard...

    By Blogger Rose~, at 10/19/2009 3:40 PM

  • I disagree. I think it's one the Beach Boys.

By Blogger Steve Dehner, at 10/19/2009 6:03 PM

  • One OF the Beach Boys, that is.

By Blogger Steve Dehner, at 10/19/2009 6:05 PM

  • Hi Rose~

I agree with Missy and I strongly disagree with Steve...I'm here to challenge him to a debate if he thinks he's up to it. I don't believe his position can't bear up to scrutiny. :D

By Blogger goe, at 10/19/2009 10:39 PM

  • No, I've changed my mind...I'm here to challenge Missy to a debate. Her place or mine, I don't care.

By Blogger goe, at 10/19/2009 10:50 PM

  • Or we can just settle it here.

By Blogger goe, at 10/19/2009 10:52 PM

  • The more I look at it the more egregious Missy's position becomes. She must be stopped.

By Blogger goe, at 10/19/2009 11:26 PM

  • I'm also a little suspicious of your position too Rose. Whose side are you on here?

By Blogger goe, at 10/20/2009 1:24 AM

  • It looks like Missy has pulled another one of her disappearing acts. Don't worry Missy, I won't sit back and allow you to deceive even one more poor soul. That's a promise.

That goes for you too Rose.

By Blogger goe, at 10/20/2009 1:46 AM

  • This is the most egregious reductionist assault on the Beach Boys in the history of music or politics.

What say you Rose? Is this just a "mere nuance" of opinion too? You are either for me or against me.

    2 Thess. 3:15; Titus 3:10; Romans 16:17-18

By Blogger goe, at 10/20/2009 2:09 AM

By Blogger goe, at 10/20/2009 4:58 AM

By Blogger goe, at 10/20/2009 5:37 AM

  • Missy and Rose,

I'm here to recover you, and God willing, lead you to repentance.

I am the Prophet, and the Fulfiller...who's over ME!

Thank you, Steve, for taking a stand in defense of the Truth.

    2 Thess. 3:15; Titus 3:10; Romans 16:17-18

By Blogger goe, at 10/20/2009 6:16 AM

  • Steve, yeah - they are about the same age? Did you feel like since this was a blog where there is normally a lot of debate, that you just had to throw out a contrary opinion? ;~)

    By Blogger Rose~, at 10/20/2009 7:34 AM

  • Gary,
I got up and checked my email this morning and I saw about 7 comments from you and I thought, "I wonder what Gary has to say about Ron Paul."
Then, as I opened each one of those comments I began to chuckle... and by the time I got to the third or fourth I was literally laughing out loud. My husband wanted to know what was so funny and so he came in and then he began to laugh out loud. I am glad you see that sometimes when things get to certain levels that there is not much left to do but pray and just see the humor in it.

    Thanks for the fun!

(That was really a good rendition, by the way.)

    By Blogger Rose~, at 10/20/2009 7:38 AM

  • Rose~,

    Oh...you think me mad?

I'm not mad...I'm madness maddened. . . from hell's heart I stab at thee; for hate's sake I spit my last breath at thee. I'd strike the sun if it insulted me. Yea, there is something on my mind, as sure as there must be something on a deck when it cracks. But what I've done I've willed...and what I've willed I've done.

Unless and until ye and Missy be fully recovered...I'll be back!

    Beach Boys forever!

By Blogger goe, at 10/20/2009 9:13 AM

  • Hey Gary, thanks for the little tidbit from Moby Dick. Here's another one from Ahab's frst mate:

It is our task in life to kill whales, to furnish oil for the lamps of the world. If we perform that task well and faithfully, we do a service to mankind that pleases Almighty God. Ahab would deny all that. He has taken us from the rich harvest we were reaping to satisfy his lust for vengeance. He is twisting that which is holy into something dark and purposeless. He is a Champion of Darkness. Ahab's red flag challenges the heavens.

    By Blogger Rose~, at 10/20/2009 9:53 AM

  • Hi Rose~,

That's good...you deserve a rose for finding that one!

By Blogger goe, at 10/20/2009 11:10 AM

  • Rose~

Oh, I misquoted Ahab above. He meant to say:

    "What I've done I willed...and what I've willed I WILL do."

And he probably meant to add this:

    "I don't give reasons. I give orders!"

    Gary --{---@

p.s.--Missy, it's safe, you can come out now. :D

By Blogger goe, at 10/20/2009 7:25 PM

  • I wasn't sure... are you sure it's safe? ;)

By Blogger Missy, at 10/22/2009 8:29 PM

  • Is that Ron Paul or a Beach Boy?

Hopefully Rose will let you answer without running interference for you again.

    2 Thess. 3:15; Titus 3:10; Romans 16:17-18

By Blogger goe, at 10/22/2009 11:03 PM

  • Missy--Its not a huge issue right now over what side you come down on or wind up in the middle of the reductionist Beach Boyless controversy , but please do surprise us with a clear, unvarnished answer. That would be a good start. Why is it you refuse to answer the same question that I recently had the joy of hearing a 9 yr old boy answer without hesitation?

By Blogger goe, at 10/23/2009 5:22 AM

  • Please, everyone just stand back and give Missy time to answer...with no redirects from Rose.

No reason to fear Missy...purification by pain has not even cross my mind. It need not be an option.

By Blogger goe, at 10/23/2009 6:28 AM

  • Still no answer to a simple question even a 9 yr old can answer without hesitation?

    2 Thess. 3:15; Titus 3:10; Romans 16:17-18

By Blogger goe, at 10/23/2009 9:58 AM

  • My 9 year old said, "What's a Beach Boy?"

By Blogger Missy, at 10/23/2009 10:55 AM

  • Now that is just too fun! "What's a beach boy?" Hmmm... sounds liek you may have to "define some terms" and have a preliminary discussion before you can get a clear, unvarnished, answer from that 9 year old.

    By Blogger Rose~, at 10/23/2009 11:54 AM

  • I just want to post the scriptures that Gary keeps referencing:

    2 Thess. 3:15
Yet do not count him as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother.

    Titus 3:10
Reject a divisive man after the first and second admonition

    Romans 16:17-18
I urge you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and put obstacles in your way that are contrary to the teaching you have learned. Keep away from them. For such people are not serving our Lord Christ, but their own appetites. By smooth talk and flattery they deceive the minds of naive people.

    By Blogger Rose~, at 10/23/2009 11:57 AM

  • Yet do not count him as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother.

That is what is so sad to me about the hostility - it aint brotherly!

    By Blogger Rose~, at 10/23/2009 11:57 AM

  • Preliminary discussion? Defining terms? Missy's child is obviously being evasive.

I had no problem at all with my 9 yr old. There's an age-old method of catechization that is easily adaptable for use with children:

By Blogger goe, at 10/23/2009 3:32 PM

  • I also find it useful to lead a person through a simple checklist to ensure their profession is the real thing:

By Blogger goe, at 10/23/2009 3:55 PM

  • In fact, I find it not only useful, but unbiblical to evangelize any other way.

By Blogger goe, at 10/23/2009 4:10 PM

  • I would no more tolerate assaults on the Glorious Gospel than I would any form of Beach Boyless reductionism. Enough said.

  • I'm with you 100% Lou. It was the final straw for me too when I saw Rose and Missy openly promoting Beach Boyless Reductionism in addition to their brazen assault on the Glorious Gospel of Paul. I'm glad you're finally back from the Bible Conference because Rose is one tough nut to crack. But together we can make a difference in warning and protecting the unsuspecting against these twin heresies. Rose has really axed for it now-- iron sharpens iron brother.

  • I HAVE been admonishing her Bro Lou, but her heart is hardened. I've even been studying your Gospel Training DVD:

If I fly to Juliet would you give me some personal training? I'm still just a spiritual babe but I'm teachable.

By Blogger goe, at 10/25/2009 2:29 AM

  • Gary, I just can't grasp a tight hold on your conviction. Why must it be one or the other? Can't this man be both Ron Paul AND a Beach Boy?

Accounting for my hard-heartedness and individual sins (of which I am sure you have none!) does not help when the man in question has forgiven all my trespass as though it never happened! Should I owe you an accounting before I can campaign for Mr. Paul once again?

By Blogger Missy, at 10/25/2009 7:11 AM

  • Do you hear what Missy is saying Bro Lou? Now Rose is leading her down the path of postmodern ecumenism just as you prophesied at the Church of the Third Revelation.

Missy, come to the Altar dear sister before it's too late! Publicly confess and repent of altering and defacing a Beach Boy. Can't you see what Rose is doing to you? And you dare to speak of CAMPAIGNING for Mr Paul? I love you just as much as Lou and I'm begging you--come to Altar. Now I see for myself why Bro Lou is so egreged!

Do you want salvation Missy? Then come to the Altar. The Lord is waiting with open arms to receive you there:

  • Lou,
Your views are known to all and have been dealt with satisfactorily everywhere you have taken them.

As for me, whom you've addressed, it has appeared to me that you've taken no delight in understanding, but, only in the revealing of your own mind.

Rose, regardless of the merits of the so-called CG, and while not subscribing to it herself, identifies many of those around the CG as God glorifying brothers in Christ, who, while having perhaps an incomplete theology(maybe even more complete than most), nonetheless, have a deeper overall theological maturity and understanding of God's revelation to us than, to the point: you do.

I do not know for sure if that is the case or not; but if it is, then I agree with her.

You've chosen to step outside of your CG Inquisition and obsess with this woman for some reason. It's revealed a true inbalnce in your character.

Serious personality conflict at it's most interesting.

You've even, and I don't think congratulations are in order here, managed to on occassion drag her down to your level.

The only verdict that is still out in this matter is the degree of your own personal instability and obsessiveness.

Baffeled, disinterested and somewhat sympathetic toward Rose,

Feel free to delete and forgive(or condemn) any of my dialogue with Lou.

By Blogger Todd, at 10/26/2009 12:37 PM

  • Poster Girl Rose:

You are not going to get away with this Poster Girl. Bro Lou Martuneac and I will have you, Little Miss Missy, and The Sanctifier standing at the ALTAR in due time. All three of you insolent and petulant sissies must publicly confess and repent of altering and defacing a beloved Beach Boy, even if guilty by association. This is non-negotiable. Lou has already lifted his mutual ban and now you are herewith banned by Easygoer until you renounce your post-modern heresy and any future intentions of propagating it. Furthermore, you must unconditionally and permanently surrender and abandon your post. No stipulations will be accepted. You are coming off your high horse pronto and your heinous blog is history girl! Lou and I have prepared a sissy bar reserved just for you at the ALTAR...see you there!

You axed for trouble and now you've got it. It took awhile because of the hardness of my cold heart, but Bro Lou finally made a believer out of me and got me to the ALTAR...and he (we) will get you and the rest of your confederates in postmodern ecumenism there too!

Yes Lou is egreged...yes he is madness maddened...and now I see for myself why!!! I try to participate in your thread in good faith and look what happened...you and Missy try and trick me into biting the apple!!! Just as Lou prophesied and warned at the Church of the Third Revelation:

"Rose is the poster girl for the double-standard and ecumenical compromise for the sake of unity... No wonder she (Rose) is on the fence so often in this regard; she seems to think 'the fence' is a reasonable position, at least in regard to this topic. This kind of lukewarm view of objective truth is central to what I have read in J. B. Hixson’s "Getting the Gospel Wrong." My heart breaks with compassion for Rose and those like her who have bitten the apple of post-modernism’s uncertainty.”

You have broken my heart with compassion too Poster Girl! But thank goodness Lou finally got here to save me!

You should have been more careful what you axed for sister because me and Lou are gonna to drink your milkshake bone dry!

You are hereby cordially invited to join me and Lou at the ALTAR ASAP! You're fixin to be a POSTER GIRL alright!!! You will live in infamy and that's a promise you can take to be bank!

Tears of joy await you after your purification is complete and the multitude of your transgressions laid bare. (Ja. 5:19,20)

I am posting the ALTAR for you here: http://easygoer1.blogspot.com/2009/10/poster-girl-rose-invited-to-altar.html

I'm also giving serious consideration to later attaching an Open Letter Redux entitled: "Poster Girl Rose: Now We Know!"

  • Hi Gary,

I think your responses are fair and necessary. I have a friend who is a Christian counselor. She told me one time, this bit of advice: "There are three ways to make crazy in any family. Tell them:

    "Don't feel"
    "Don't trust"
    "Don't talk"

Have any of these rules and it's certain there will be crazy in any family."

For that reason I am excited by your comments in at least one sort of way (if not altogether), increasing vulnerability of representing how I (and others I see) are feeling. Let me provide a safety net for this, which comes from history elsewhere:

In 2008 they confirmed the response to him elsewhere on the internet (amongst fundamentalists), here.

Again, I don't have to say anything, I just cite it. That's my attempt to give a courteous cross sample of the threads in which he is in conflict with fundamentalists, but if anyone thinks these four are biased feel free to register as a member of the Fighting Fundamental Forums and do a search for his last name.

If he is ours (because he is FG), even being the fundamentalist of fundamentalists, fine. But as long as he persists in persisting that he doesn't belong, then he doesn't belong. I like this therapeutic humor. Why is it that fundamentalists demonstrate a lack of decorum - either through mean replies or "noble-languaged" spamming?

By Blogger Sanctification, at 10/26/2009 3:10 PM

  • And one more thing Poster Girl...for now.

You are BANNED from Easygoer. Do you hear me? BANNED forever except you confess and repent!

BUT...I will post at your blog in any/every thread, on any subject, any time I am in the mood.

By Blogger goe, at 10/26/2009 3:14 PM

  • Well, if it isn't The Sanctifier herself. I've been looking everywhere for you. I see that you've gotten up to speed on this thread, so I've got ONE question for you:

Can you tell me who is in that picture?

Be careful how you answer. I don't want to hear any post-modern psycho babble. See if you can give a straight answer for a change. Me and Lou have plenty of spare sissy bars at the ALTAR if we need em!

    So...who is that man?

By Blogger goe, at 10/26/2009 3:45 PM

    -Mahmoud Ahmadinejad

    By Blogger Rose~, at 10/26/2009 4:30 PM

  • The Sanctifier,

I see you haven't identified the man in the picture yet. Have you disappeared too?

Is this man a BB or not? Don't be afraid, I'm just curious what you think.

Maybe you would feel more at ease telling Lou who the man in the picture is:

By Blogger goe, at 10/26/2009 5:10 PM

  • Gary, Beach Boys are just a little beyond my cultural awareness... apologies. I'll add it to my pile of issues to research if you can be patient with me.

Oh -- hello Rose! How are you?

By Blogger Sanctification, at 10/26/2009 5:48 PM

  • Hi Michele,
you said I like this therapeutic humor.

it's like I said to Gary - it gets to a point where all one can do is pray and/or see the humor in it.

Those are some interesting links you provided. I guess that should comfort us in knowing that we aren't alone in it...

    By Blogger Rose~, at 10/26/2009 7:07 PM

  • Gary,
    I bow before your demands...
let it be done unto me as you have said...

    By Blogger Rose~, at 10/26/2009 7:08 PM

  • Todd, I don't condemn anything you have said! I have always appreciated your participation her at this blog. I appreciate this comment no less.

I am currently working on a solution....

By the way, isn't that picture actually of Joe Wilson, our man from SC who said "You lie!" to B. Hussein Obama?

By Blogger David Wyatt, at 10/26/2009 8:38 PM

  • Yes Rose,

But now because of Tim's latest post I feel awfully convicted. I confess it is no good to pit denomination vs. denomination in any portion and I want to ask forgiveness for approaching that.

I feel rather caught and helpless through abandoning "equipping knowledge" such as denominational tendencies. Giving it up is to be at the whim of a few brothers who have not yet chosen to make the most of what potential there still is.

    What can I do....

By Blogger Sanctification, at 10/26/2009 10:57 PM

  • Rose/All:

This morning I was pondering this verse and came to a conclusion, which follows.

For what glory is it, if, when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye take it patiently, this is acceptable with God,” (1 Peter :20).

My conclusion is that to have posted here at this time was not in the best interest of the cause of Christ, was not “acceptable with God.” I apologize for having come to this blog.

I offer no apology for or retraction of any of the fact based comments I posted here. They just should not have been posted here at this time.

By Blogger Lou Martuneac, at 10/27/2009 8:12 AM

  • Lou,
I, for one brother, am gratified by seeing the reflection of Christ in you in what you've said above. I appreciate seeing that. Thanks.

There is such an opportunity in this new information hyper-environment to either fruitlessly quarrel, or truly sharpen by welcoming failures at communication as an opportunity to become better teachers and better students.

As you've briefly testified above, the Lord, plainly miraculously, through His Spirit, example and teaching, makes His presence known to us; and accomplishes the seeming impossible by making it possible to know the great joy of truly loving one another as a(The) Great Family while being rooted and grounded and laboring in Him.

Whew!...we all have our areas needing encouragement.

May we share the Lord's gracious peace together in these trials, Todd

By Blogger Todd, at 10/27/2009 10:24 AM

  • That verse, 1 Peter 2:20, has a lot of meaning for me. When I first was saved, I lived at home with my Catholic mother and a couple of my brothers. I tried to make them see the truth. There were times when I was not so patient and would argue wrongly and was not honoring my mother like I ought. I knew I was letting my flesh take over at times about these spiritual matters. I knew my family was talking about it and I felt I was being marginalized.

I remember lamenting to my mentor in the faith about the treatment I was getting. He would say that I was 'being persecuted for righteousness' sake.' I knew, though, that in a lot of ways, the things I was suffering were for my own sake and because of my own impatience and fleshly ways of arguing. It struck me deeply with conviction.

For the longest time after feeling that conviction (20 some years ago), I kept this scripture in several places - in my car, in my purse, to remind me how to conduct myself:

    2 Timothy 2:23-27
23 But avoid foolish and ignorant disputes, knowing that they generate strife. 24 And a servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all, able to teach, patient, 25 in humility correcting those who are in opposition, if God perhaps will grant them repentance, so that they may know the truth, 26 and that they may come to their senses and escape the snare of the devil, having been taken captive by him to do his will.

    It still reminds me!

Lou, for the apology: my thanks goes out in equal measure. Hopefully we can put this chapter behind now.

    By Blogger Rose~, at 10/27/2009 11:10 AM

  • I admire that apology, Lou, and hope to be as publicly transparent about personally applying scripture to my actions.

By Blogger Missy, at 10/27/2009 11:44 AM

  • Lou,

I'm going to leave your comment posted (on my blog) because I agree with you. I, too, offer no apology for believing in what you have labeled as "The Crossless Gospel" or "Promise-Only Gospel". I never will offer any apologies or retract my conviction before God that what I believe is not "heresy" or a "false gospel" as you claim and advertise everywhere. You have a right to your own convictions too. The problem is that you will not be allowed to advertise on my blog. I have always honored the ban you imposed on me at your blog over a year ago and I would have appreciated you doing the same here, as I'm sure some other bloggers would have as well.

I accept your apology and respect you for making it. It still grieves me that you refuse to have fellowship with me and others because of your conviction that we are heretics, but there is obviously nothing I can do about that. It grieves me even more that you have also labeled some who ARE willing to have fellowship with me as a being a heretic themselves.

Apparently the only option we are left with is to mutually "avoid" one another according to our own convictions as we are told to do in Rom. 16:17,18. While that is not an option that brings me any joy it does seem to be the only one possible.

I do take consolation in my belief that there is coming a time when you and I will have joy and fellowship together when we see Christ face to face. I assume that you know you are born again and have assurance of your salvation. What I think you don't yet realize for some reason is that there would be no way for you or anyone else to know that apart from the promise of Jesus Christ that whosoever believes in Him has everlasting life. That is the only way that the meaning and purpose of Christ's death and resurrection has been communicated to us by God (e.g. Jn. 1:12; 3:16, 5:24, 6:47; 11:25-27; 11:25-27; 20:31; 1 Jn 5:1; 5:9-13 etc). None of us would know or understand why He came, died, and rose again if Jesus Himself had not told us. None of us would know or understand what it is He wants to do for us and give us if He had not told us. None of us would know or understand what Jesus told the woman at the well that she needed to know (Jn. 4:10) It was Jesus who told us this even before Paul, and when Paul himself was saved it was this same simple message of Jesus that he first believed. The Lord taught him the rest of it later, just as He also had done with the disciples.

If we knew everything in scripture, but didn't know about the promise of Jesus, none of it would make any sense to us. If we knew and even believed that someone named Jesus Who claimed to be the "Christ" had died for our sins and rose from the grave three days later, it would not make any sense or have any meaning unless we also knew that this same Jesus promised us that if we simply believed in Him we have everlasting life. And we can only "believe in Him" in that sense by believing His words, since that is the only way it was originally communicated to us:

"Most assuredly , I say to you, he who hears My word and believes Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgement, but has passed from death into life." Jn 5:24

  • Now you know something Lou? I refuse to waste any more time arguing with any person who claims to have assurance of their salvation about the so-called "Promise-Only Gospel." You know why? Because, it is IMPOSSIBLE for them to know they are saved any other way. Anyone who KNOWS they are saved or have eternal life has believed the promise of Jesus Christ at some point in their life whether they realize it or not. If they hadn't done that they could not know they were saved. Whether they believed His promise straight from the Gospel of John or it was communicated to them some other way, they have believed it. And it was only when they believed His promise that they understood the meaning and purpose of any other biblical truths they might have also believed at the time they were born again.

You have rightly acknowledged that even we "Crossless heretics" believe, teach, and preach the death, resurrection, etc etc. In fact we believe in preaching all of scripture to people. Jesus commanded us to go and make DISCIPLES of all the nations. That clearly means that we are commanded to teach them EVERYTHING we know about Jesus Christ. The claim of some people that the "Promise-Only Gospel" will eventually lead to the other important historical facts about Christ not being preached is absurd, I don't care how many Dr's that person has stuck before his name. The very idea that the historical Jesus who is called the Christ could ever be successfully separated from scripture is preposterous, especially since Jesus Himself promised that not one jot nor tittle of scripture would ever pass away until all be fulfilled. And why would any believer even consider doing such a thing?

No, my days of arguing with people who know they are saved about something so obvious as this are over. There is a whole world out there who doesn't know about Jesus Christ, what He has done for them, and the free gift he wants to give them, to even debate something as ridiculous as this any longer. And there is no excuse for it either.

“For what glory is it, if, when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye take it patiently, this is acceptable with God,” (1 Peter :20).

I have been blogging for about a year now and I don't know that I can go back and sort through everything I've said or written. But Lou, if I have wrongfully hurt or offended you or anyone else during this time, and I don't doubt that I have, I ask you to forgive me.

God bless you Lou and I'll see you in heaven.

I need confirmation from the Beach Boys to accept this. My wife (who would not visit one of these blogs to avoid the rack) is channeling this from the Beach Boys:
"Woouldn't it be nice if we were older,
then we wouldn't have to wait so long.
and wouldn't it be nice to live together,
in the kind of world where we belong..."

I believe that the Beach Boys have accepted your proposition.

  • Hi Duane!!
Thanks for the visit and for the light hearted comment! I appreciate that. I have seen you popping up around the places where I read and have appreciated what you say. I don't know if I will have much to say presently, but perhaps. If so, maybe we can discuss things in the future - sounds fun.

    God bless!

  • Hi Rose!
It is good for us to be here. [goodness I just sat up to type and stepped on the dog. Not the one in the picture, but one that's shaped like a pumpernickel loaf with a nose, ears and tail. She accepts apologies exceptionally well].
I really appreciate ya'all being here. This is a community. I am praying that the Lord put me in a local community of like minded brothers and sisters, but He long since has driven me into "Babylon". So finally, I am trying to develope a small enclave at our place of worship. Time will tell. It is a very liberal church. I was awaiting directions to leave, but the Lord had given opportunity to lead an adult Sunday School class, I pick curriculum. So I decided this is make or break. I had three weeks to see life.
Last Sunday a couple of people in their questions, and comments indicated that they believe the message of John in the Gospel. I am quite excited (understatement).
This past Sunday and the next 3, I have to work, so I put together a package for them to review and sent it Sunday with my wife. All can rejoice: They seem to agree with all of the extended info anyone might require them to believe, although I did not quiz them. ;o)

Rose, your blog and others provide an important source of encouragement and fellowship, while we continue to search for community here.

    God Richly Bless You,
    In Jesus Our Lord

O.K. talked to Brian and da boys and they wanna do one for my wife.
She sorta by happenstance saved my life (no. really)about 23 years ago, when I would not have taken a bet I'd live to see 35. Da whole "prodigal son" thing.
So this one goes out to her:

I don't mean to be disrespectful, I'm really laughing at myself because I'm so bush league, but you oughta head over to KC's and check out the negotiations.

Remember the old addage about trying to describe God to a bi-valve. I beg your pardon! I'm a little higher on the evolutionary tree than that!

  • Hey Gary and Rose this is Larry the Lobster.
I get ya Gary. My knowledge base, being one step above a
bi-valve was not so extensive. About a month ago I googled "oh Dylan, is just a shot away" to hear that song. Oops!
My path away from Father lead in a more spiritual direction:

  • Hi Gary and Rose:

Maybe you too Gary, but I really mean "prodigal son":
"my ordo solutis (that's latin I think. Google it if you don't know what it is ;0))
was, I came to know the Lord, grew quickly, at work I even led others to the Lord, and tried to disciple them. At college, I led a very small group, which incuded my HS sweetheart. WWellll, she was untrue, and I got blue, The Lord would not give me my due, what could I do?
To quote Russ Taff "I shook my fist upon the skies and on most of those who loved me. A frightened, angry boy in grownups clothes".
Maybe 5 years a complete apostate, yet I KNOW now, that HE carried me through. He knew what was on the other side.

Let every man be a liar,

By Blogger Duane WATTS, at 10/28/2009 10:47 PM

  • Sorry I threw cold water on the beach party!
Hey speakin' of apostate, during my time in the gutter, I was at the re-birth of the Newport Folk Festival.
I think it was Judy Collins up on stage who said "Hey! Have ya heard? Bob Dylan's back from born again!" (scattered applause)
Listen to this song he wrote, covered by 3rd Day. Listen to the words and tell me we won't see him again!

  • Duane,

Even better...here's Dylan giving his own testimony.

By Blogger goe, at 10/29/2009 12:19 AM

  • Ah, that's great stuff Gary!

You wanta hear a real trip?
I no sooner posted that last entry, went out to close some of the tabs I had up and check e-mail, when up pops an ad for a Bob Dylan Christmas album released less than 2 weeks ago! "Oh little town of Bethlehem" and all that.

I'm sure prayin' for that old boy!
I "kind of saw" him with the Dead around 1986. I appreciate him now, much more than I did then.

Gary, and Rose, this has been quite a trip down memory lane for me tonight. I really appreciate having someone to talk to, you know-- about life. I even went over to Antonio's and carried the ball for Alvin, to talk to Michael about Father.

By Blogger Duane WATTS, at 10/29/2009 1:35 AM

  • Duane,

It's been an encouragement to me to hear your testimony. There's a lot in the "ordo solutis" of your testimony that I can relate to. But instead of 5 yrs in "Babylon" it was more like 20-25 yrs for me. Plus, I can't really say for sure exactly when I was saved, I just know I am now. I know now that it really doesn't matter and I try to not waste much time looking back and trying to sort through my foggy memories of those years.

I was going to share some more with you of my testimony but didn't have time. Maybe later. Hope to see you around. I appreciate your comments a lot.

That's great that you pray for Dylan. It's never occurred to me before to do that. I'm glad you mentioned him tonight though, because I can relate to his struggles as well.

By Blogger goe, at 10/29/2009 2:44 AM

  • As for my testimony, it's really too much of a horror story to tell in much detail. Suffice it to say that if it wasn't for the Lord using the GES to bring me out of Babylon I would surely still be there or else in a pine box. Oddly enough, during all those years in Babylon I would have told you I believed everything in the Bible, especially the death, resurrection, and deity of Christ (and His burial too!). I was quite orthodox in my beliefs. But Zane Hodges shined the light on the one piece of the puzzle that was missing in my life--the promise of Jesus Christ . I suppose that's why it hits a sensitive nerve with me when I hear him and the GES referred to as heretics or as those who teach a “CliffsNotes version of the Gospel". And no, I'm not at all thinking of the honorable Dr Reitman. He's the last person I would ever suspect of using “CliffsNotes”, but there are quite a few others who apparently still cling to them.

Thank you for being such a gracious and patient host. You have always been most reasonable and I thank you. I guess I'm done here now.

"*Editor’s Note: This article is a slightly condensed form of a message given at the 2001 annual GES conference in Dallas. In light of events that have occurred in the intervening 6+ years, the challenges and warnings given in this article have proved prescient."

  • Hi Friends,

As I read through some of this, you made me laugh. What a great group of people you are!!!

Yesterday (Nov. 23, 2009) was the one year anniversary of Zane's entrance into heaven. One year ago he would have heard those words... "Well done good and faithful servant!" He was a kind and gentle man who taught the grace of God and walked the walk. His life was completely devoted to the study of God's Word. He never married. His love was the Lord Jesus Christ, and his life was devoted to Him. My husband and I miss him. We count it a privilege that God brought him across our path.

If you would like to read a wonderful tribute to Zane, I think this one says it well. Just copy and paste this link. This tribute was written by a pastor who I think is in Southern MO.
